Choosing your Display

Booking a fireworks display can be confusing. We have worked hard to simplify the process into four steps.

Step One. Choose the style of your display
Step Two. Choose the burn rate (WOW! Factor) of your display
Step Three. Choose the duration of your display.
Step Four. Add any upgrades (like a Musical Upgrade) or extras to your display.

Step One. Choose the Style of Display

At Sonic Fireworks, we offer two main styles of displays: Traditional and Whisper. Both can be choreographed to music and upgraded with extras.

Our Traditional displays are the ones you know and love from public events. They are filled with dramatic aerial effects and plenty of noise and have entertained audiences for generations.

Our Whisper displays provide a creative, low-noise option for more noise-sensitive venues. Instead of the loud bangs, we use subtle, quieter effects choreographed into a stunning visual “ballet”. These displays are awe-inspiring when synchronised with music.

Often, this choice is up to the venue. Many commercial wedding venues now opt for low-noise, or, as we call them, Whisper displays. We highly recommend making a Whisper display a pyro-musical, as synchronizing the fireworks to music brings out our creative flair and mesmerises the show.

Don’t forget about the extras. Adding an upgrade or a special romantic extra makes a display especially memorable.

Step Two. Choose the Burn Rate (WOW! Factor) of Display

In fireworks, it’s all about the Burn Rate— how quickly we turn your budget into a breathtaking show! The higher the burn rate, the more stunning the display.

As the burn rate increases, fireworks’ size, quantity, and quality can increase—our display range increases in burn rate from bronze to platinum.

As the Burn Rate goes up the size of fireworks can go up.

This means there can be larger fireworks that can have more varied effects in the sky.
As the Burn Rate goes up the quantity of fireworks can go up.

This means there can be more bursts in the sky, creating more intensity or firing points and a more expansive display.
As the Burn Rate goes up the quality of fireworks can go up.

This means that fireworks can come from better manufacturers that have better effects.

We are all familiar with how product ranges work in supermarkets; there are own-label brands (Bronze), own-label premium brands (Silver), commercial premium brands (Gold), and products that sit on the top shelf (Platinum).

There is no right or wrong choice; it is a decision based on budget and preference. We treat all our displays with care and enthusiasm.

Step Three. Choose the Duration of the Display

For private displays clients often choose use their budget on a better burn rate (WOW! Factor). Most displays we fire are 5-6 minutes in duration. If you book a pyromusical display the duration maybe decided by how many music tracks you want. (Although our chief designer is also a brilliant music editor, so we can edit tracks together in creative ways.)

Public display clients often want a longer display of 10-15 minutes, especially if the audience is paying to watch it. However, there is a balance between keeping the audience interested and excited and stretching the budget.

Our price points are just guidelines. We often tailor displays to fit specific budgets, styles, and locations. Contact us to arrange a chat to discuss your exact needs.

Step Four. Add any Upgrades or Extras

Customise your display further with our range of upgrades and extras. Turn your display into a pyromusical, choreographed music spectacular with the Musical Upgrade. Have an even bigger finale with the Finale Upgrade.

For wedding displays, we have a range of Romantic Extras to choose from, like giant red hearts in the sky or lacework (fireworks letters) displaying the couple’s initials with a heart and fountain crown.

Lancework can be created for corporate logos, and slogans, we have even done marriage proposals!

Our famous Sonic Fireball is an unforgettable experience. There is a huge bang, and a fireball rolls up into the sky. The noise, visuals, and heat are quite something!

Musical Upgrade

Choreographing the fireworks to music elevates the display to the next level, plus we are pyromusical specialists.

Are low-noise displays worth it?

Many commercial wedding venues now opt for low-noise, or, as we call them, Whisper displays. We highly recommend making a Whisper display a pyro-musical, as synchronizing the fireworks to music brings out our creative flair and makes the show truly mesmerizing.

Low-noise displays for public events are difficult to pull off. Public whisper displays can work but need a great deal of thought and planning.

Can I book a Display as a surprise for someone?

Yes, we can work with surprises as long as we know well in advance and you realise that we may be in full view when we are setting up. Therefore, not all venues are suitable for complete surprise displays.

What happens in Bad Weather?

All the Fireworks are fully waterproofed; we can fire
them in the rain. Extreme conditions, mainly very high
winds, can be a safety problem.

We would rarely consider cancelling due to extreme weather. We will always try to be reasonable and treat each situation uniquely. You can insure against this. Ask for details.

When is it Legal to Fire Fireworks?

Fireworks can be fired all year, but the law stipulates that they must be finished by 11 p.m. (there are exceptions, like Bonfire Night and New Year’s Eve). Sometimes, the venue may specify how late your display can be.

How Long does it take to set up a Fireworks Display?

The Setup time will vary depending on the size of the display and its location. A small display might take 2-3 hours to set up. A large display may take all day. We aim to be fully rigged at least 1 hour before the agreed firing time.
